Built from real cross-border experience

AUK Tax was founded to solve a problem that really shouldn’t be as complicated as it is.

AUK Tax was founded to solve a problem that really shouldn’t be as complicated as it is.

It started with friends moving between the UK and Australia - and the same questions coming up again and again.

  • Do I need to file in both countries?

  • Am I still UK tax resident?

  • How is my UK property income taxed now I live in Australia?

  • How is my Australian property income taxed now I live in UK?

  • Why are my two accountants telling me different things?

These weren’t people trying to avoid tax. They simply didn’t know how the two systems interacted - and trying to coordinate advice across two separate firms felt overwhelming and exhausting.

What began as helping friends navigate UK and Australian tax compliance gradually became something more. As more people faced the same challenges - relocating, managing property abroad, receiving pensions, investing across borders - it became clear there was a genuine gap.

AUK Tax was born to fill it: one adviser who truly understands both systems and, crucially, how they work together.

A single point of expertise across both jurisdictions

AUK Tax was founded by Christian Iles, whose career has spanned both boutique tax practices and the Big Four - across both the UK and Australia. That blend of experience is what makes AUK Tax different. AUK Tax is built on the technical rigour and structured approach you'd expect from a major firm, combined with something equally valuable gained from boutique practices on both sides of the world: close client relationships, practical thinking, and advice that's grounded in the real world rather than the theoretical.

The result is an approach that feels personal and accessible.

At AUK Tax, you’re not passed between departments or left trying to coordinate separate advisers in different time zones. You deal directly with someone who understands both UK and Australian personal tax - residency, property, pensions, compliance, and planning - as one joined-up picture.

Clear advice in situations that often feel anything but

Managing tax across two countries can feel disproportionately stressful. Different tax years. Different residency rules. Different terminology. A tax treaty that most people have never had reason to read. The goal of AUK Tax is straightforward:

Clear guidance on where you stand

Returns prepared correctly in both jurisdictions

Practical advice that considers the full cross border picture

Fixed fees and straight forward communication

No jargon. No conflicting advice. No unnecessary complexity.
